» Phosphorescence

‘Phosphorescence’ is a series of photographic works evoking the ethereal qualities of shells under water. This is illustrated through the luminescent nature of light which is explored in multiple ways and viewpoints to create a connection between filtered light and the way it bounces off the surface of solid objects.

For this project I used an Olympus Tough TG-4 waterproof camera, to capture the close up detail of a variety of oceanic sea shells. Such as, abalone, periwinkle, buttercup lucine, Grey top shell, and pelican’s foot shells. The shells were placed in a clear plastic container, where water colour paint was added to the water to create an distinct blue oceanic sensation. Before they were then illuminated by both natural and artificial warm lighting.
